If you're launching Meta ads across dozens of accounts, you're choosing between two fundamentally different approaches. One is antidetect browsers and profile automation. The other is the official Marketing API on your own Meta app. The difference isn't interface convenience — it's how the tool talks to Facebook.
How it works technically
An antidetect browser emulates a unique device/browser "fingerprint" for each profile, aiming to keep Meta from linking accounts together. It works by spoofing browser parameters and cookie sessions, not through official authorization.
The official Marketing API works differently: you create your own Meta app, authenticate via OAuth and a system user, and every API request carries your real token. Facebook sees a legitimate API call from your app — not a browser emulation it has to detect.
What this means for ban risk
Meta keeps improving how it detects fingerprint spoofing and browser automation. How fast that leads to a ban depends on the tool and the setup — there are no public measurements of it, so don't trust "we never get banned" promises.
The official API doesn't try to look like "not a bot" — it is the declared, authorized API client. There's one hard but clear condition: your app must be in Live mode, not Development, or Facebook refuses to create ads (error #31/3858385 — covered in a separate article).
What this means for real cost
An antidetect subscription is only part of the price. To make the setup work you usually add proxies for every profile, buying and replacing accounts, cookies, a separate server or tracker. Compare the full monthly cost — subscription plus these items plus ban losses — not the number on the pricing page.
The official API removes the need for proxies, cookies and account replacement entirely — it's not a "cheaper option," it's a different architecture where those cost lines simply don't exist.
What you give up
The official approach needs your own Business Manager and Meta app — 10–15 minutes of one-time setup (guide), and it doesn't work if you only operate on rented agency accounts without admin rights. Antidetect is easier to get into without your own BM — but that's exactly the source of the tool-ban risk.
Bottom line
If you have your own Business Manager, the official API is safer structurally (it doesn't evade Meta's checks, it passes them honestly) and cheaper in practice (no hidden workaround-infrastructure costs). AdFleet is built on the official Marketing API only — try it free for 3 days, no card.
